Traditional abayah are black, and can be a big square of fabric draped from the shoulders or head, or a long caftan. Abaya covering the whole body except the face, feet and hands. It can be worn with the niqab.
Abayat are known by various names, abaya, abayah, jubah, jubah labuh, kaftan, long dress and many more. Contemporary models are usually caftans, cut from light, flowing fabrics like crape*, georgette and chiffon. Styles differ from region to region: some have abayat embroidery on black material, or beads cover up all over the dress while others are colorful and have different forms of works of art in them. Nowdays abayas available on market or online with variety of modern style and patterns.
*Crape is woven of hard spun silk yarn in the gum or natural condition. There are two distinct varieties of the textile: soft, Canton, or Oriental crape, and hard or crisped crape. Thin crêpe is called crêpe de Chine ("Chinese crêpe").

ReplyDelete..me? Not yet.. myself just can do simple treatment such as 'seluar koyak' or adding manjalara stone on the tudung (it is really tough job for me! )
